Rizgari

Rizgari
   Rizgari was a small Kurdish Marxist party in Turkey that grew up in 1976 around the publishing house Komal and became known by the name of its journal, which was banned after only its second issue. Rizgari argued that as a colonized people, the Kurds could expect little from the Turks. Kurdish liberation would be won by a socialist revolution led by the Kurdish proletariat.
   Ideological and personal conflicts led to a split in 1979, and a splinter group called Ala Rizgari (Flag of Liberation) was created. Both parties were destroyed by the Turkish military coup that seized power in September 1980. The Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) eventually emerged as the main Kurdish revolutionary party in Turkey after 1980.
   Rizgari was also the name of a short-lived Iraqi Kurdish party in 1945 that merged into the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) when it was created in 1946.
